So Schools Are No Longer Safe

Hulyo 5, 2008

I read about this news in FTalk just last night.

Here’s a clipping from an article:

GANG RAPE inside the school campus? whatda! my first time to hear something like that. it’s hard to imagine an incident like that would happen inside the campus. i know there’s a lot of university scandals found everywhere, but those were just crap. i mean the girls do even liked what were did to them.. so schools are now removed from the list of “least prone places for incidents such as rapes and abuses to happen”. honestly, i think there are no safe place anymore in this country – even at home, there were lately a lot of news about abused/raped victims by their own fathers.. where is justice by the way? is he already in the Philippines? haven’t heard from him yet.

I admit i somehow pitied the girl. it would be really shameful and embarrassing for her side. she might even bring this experience all through out her college life! hope she won’t have traumas after this incident.

But i can’t stop blaming her and thinking that it was also her fault.. yes i know it is the 4 students – 3 males and 1 girl, who are to be blamed. but does the girl know what fraternity (or rather non-accredited organization) means? i guess her university had an orientation for freshmen right? if so, probably they warned them about these unauthorized groups. or maybe her friends or parents could have told her about it? but actually, students were already being warned since high school. and besides, i know these kinds of organizations were also being televised nowadays, so it is impossible to say that she doesn’t know what fraternities are. don’t tell me she doesn’t watch documentaries? LOL. at least she should have an idea what frats do to their members.

And if this girl accomplice didn’t mentioned about joining any frats, i still consider it her fault. she shouldn’t have trusted the girl from the very start since she doesn’t know her – a stranger like what people call them (since i haven’t heard nor read about something like the girl accomplice being a friend of the girl victim, so i assumed they are both strangers to each others presence). was the accomplice very convincing with her words? that’s not an excuse FYI! she still shouldn’t have given her trust that easily. we have this saying that goes: “do not trust strangers” or something like that right? it is over-used now actually. so that’s the lesson to learn again this time.

And to hide it from her parents for 3 days?! WTH!

The Summer Continues!

Hunyo 28, 2008

We have swimming for our PE3 class! that means i’ll become tan in no time hahaha. but it’s okay, some said my skin was a little pale so this may be a good timefor me to have a better skin color.. to tell you guys, i’m not really fond of swimming – yes, swimming excites me since i only get the chance to swim once per year – but i’m not that kind of person that would really have fun in the pool and be joyful because of that. i’m not a kid anymore – though i’m still young. being in the pool already contents me. but i don’t even know how to swim! WTF! what i only know is that i know nothing (feeling like a philosopher) LOL.

PE3 is every saturday. and our sched rotates for no explained reasons. maybe it’s just the trip of our admin. for today, we were scheduled from 7.30am to 9am (unfortunately, i was 30 minutes late). we’ll be from 12nn to 1.30pm – saturday next week, then 10.30am to 12nn – the next next week, then 9am to 10.30am – next week after, and back to 7.30am to 9am again. one good thing is we can extend our time at the pool or come early in the pool. that way, we can still enjoy the swimming stuff even the other sections are already having their swimming class. and it really does feel like it is still summer hehe.

The only part i hated is we have to wear swimming trunks or cycling shorts, it feels embarrassing for me to wear such things. i am thin FYI – that is why i’m trying to become fat. LOL. and also the venue is HELL! i admit the pool is so nice but the private subdivision is isolated! i mean, since the place is for rich people, a few only live there! and even how fascinating the houses there could be, they are kilometers apart from each other! my gawd. why do they have to choose a venue exclusively only for the rich? and now we have to walk miles from the gate to the pool, and vice versa. it’s so hot you know.

Btw i have to break my blog rule for now – coz i wanna share some more stuff. it’s just that my mom was confined last thursday at the FEU hospital (luckily, just at my school. at least i can visit her. haha). i wasn’t informed that time. i only know is she was nagging about her kidney – unaware that she have to be operated for that complaint. i visit her yesterday after classes (6pm) but she was being operated that time. an hour had passed before she was brought back to her room. i don’t know what to react nor what to say. honestly, we had a little argument just this week.. but what i can’t really take is i was still wearing my uniform that time. i felt anxious because people might think i was really a nurse. and seriously, i was really mistaken by one of those nurses or head nurse! i think. wahh.. i waited for my dad to arrive and got home 11pm. just a little time to prepare for today’s class.. for now, she is okay. they’re just waiting for her to be discharged by the doctor.

Entry, June 19th

Hunyo 19, 2008

My God! i can’t take this anymore! i feel like i wanna commit suicide with what’s happening to me right now. argh.. i hate thursdays from now on. aside from the fact that i stepped on a bubblegum around lunch time today, we have whole day class every thursdays. and take note: we only have two subjects – PHC 1 (primary health care) and RLE (related learning experience), which is a 9-hour major subject! WTF. yes we do have a couple of breaks and a lunch break, but who can make it alive with a subject that long? and Room506 is as hell as RLE! the ACs (aircon, for your information) were turned off! what’s the problem with the school? are they saving electricity? LOL.

And now, i’m stuck here doing three things at the same time. it sounds funny but i ain’t joking. i’m doing a reaction paper actually, then typing this blog entry while surfing the net about monetizing blogs. i know i should be prioritizing my studies first but i really can’t stop doing miscellaneous things such as visiting this blog. i’m sensing that i need to make updates today.. addicted, huh? hahaha. but i do hate this habit of mine. i’m needing medications for it.

Speaking of blog monetizing. i realized that making money isn’t that easy especially when you are using your 18-days-old blog! hahaha! i’m receiving NO responses and NO offers so far from several paysites that i joined. my earnings for now don’t even reach a dollar yet. it’s a little embarrasing for me, yet funny at the same time. but the beginner/noob still doesn’t lose hope, he still believes he will be successful to this field. pray for me.

A Million-Copy Best Seller

Hunyo 14, 2008

Bad news for me. i won’t be able to write more posts until tomorrow; i’m getting busy and busy with my schooling lately. and for this weekend, i need to read “Sophie’s World” by Jostein Gaarder – yes, it’s a worldwide bestseller. i have no idea what this book is all about since we were just informed yesterday by our philosophy professor (we have PHILOSOPHY! it looks exciting). to give us some insights of the book, i made a simple research before reading it!

Sophie’s World (Sofies Verden in the original Norwegian) is a novel by Jostein Gaarder, published in 1991. It was originally written in Norwegian, but has since been translated into English (1995) and many other languages.

Source: wikipedia.org

When 14-year-old Sophie encounters a mysterious mentor who introduces her to philosophy, mysteries deepen in her own life. Why does she keep getting postcards addressed to another girl? Who is the other girl? And who, for that matter, is Sophie herself? To solve the riddle, she uses her new knowledge of philosophy, but the truth is far stranger than she could have imagined.

A phenomenal worldwide bestseller, SOPHIE’S WORLD sets out to draw teenagers into the world of Socrates, Descartes, Spinoza, Hegel and all the great philosophers. A brilliantly original and fascinating story with many twists and turns, it raises profound questions about the meaning of life and the origin of the universe.

Looks like a good novel to read, right? if i would be in the mood, i’ll write a review for it after reading. :)

First Day High

Hunyo 10, 2008

It’s the month of June! we all know what’s with June right? of course we do, especially the teens because this is the time we go back to school. some of the schools started earlier than expected, some will start this coming June 16, but most schools started today. and just like every first day of the school year, i got this nervous feeling a while ago. i always wonder why? btw. as usual, first day for me is BORING. there’s nothing new actually – just some fresh faces from section J who are now at our section, some boring teachers, and stuffs like these and those. well for a change, i kinda like the “new and still constructing” annex building. and i also missed the starbucks at the arcade! (fyi, an arcade is a cafeteria) haha.

We only have two subjects today and every tuesdays. and good heavens we only have to wait for one hour today before Biostatistics, our first subject. it starts at eight (8am). i remember just last year, we were at a room staring at space since 7am before we were told that our first class will be starting at 9am. WTH we were like stupid people for two hours! that was the worst first day i ever had. anyways i’m so happy today! we don’t have subjects scheduled every wednesdays! that means i still can have a little fun this sem.

The No Uniform Policy

Hunyo 4, 2008

I just heard it at the television yesterday. if you haven’t yet seen the news, click ME. here’s a bit of my POV:

We’re talking about public schools here right? and when we say public schools, we tend to think they are for poor or below average people. and since this is philippines, there is poverty. poverty is closely related to insufficient/lack of money (to afford everyday living) or no money at all. so poor people don’t have enough money to buy their needs and wants. and because they can’t buy what they need, they only own a limited set of clothes. this is where ate meng’s “idea” will come in:

meng.o3:

If there’s no uniform, students would buy extra clothes.
buying extra clothes means another expense.
now, how would that contribute to the lessening of expenses? would that even fight poverty?

Haha, i’m just sharing it anyway. if our president think that would lessen the problems of a poor filipino family, i don’t have anything against it. and now, back to school everyone!

No More Worries

Hunyo 2, 2008

Glad i’ll still be staying at FEU, haha. i really thought i’m gonna transfer schools. well yeah, Fatima isn’t bad at all. actually my cousin took nursing there so there will be chances that we might be together, and that isn’t a bad idea after all. i missed her so much. but i can’t live my friends at FEU so suddenly. i still wanna be with them more somehow. and like what ive been saying – i love FEU. forgive me God for my lies. but honestly, i didn’t prayed for that not to happen. hehe. i’m not really a religous person, sorry about that.

And last May 29, if i’m not mistaken, i got enrolled! where? at FEU! haha. i’m so glad that my mom didn’t transfer me to another school. i know that was a bit selfish because they can’t afford the tuition of 40 thousand but they still let me study there. i don’t know how to show my gratitude to them but to study more and concentrate harder i guess, would be enough to express my thanks. right?
